The IFI Faces of Fatherhood Celebration is held in May each year to recognize the 156 essay finalists selected from the IFI Chicago White Sox Fatherhood Essay Contest. Each year, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, IFI selects 156 essay finalist to be recognized at the annual IFI Faces of Fatherhood Celebration. The event includes a picnic and then the 400-500 guests are treated to a Chicago White Sox baseball game. These 12 essayist per grade, grades K through 12, and their family are invited to a celebratory event where each essayist is recognized by name and presented with a certificate of participation. Some of the essayists are asked to read their heartfelt winning essays. Since 1999 the IFI Faces of Fatherhood Celebration has been held in conjunction with the Chicago White Sox. For many years the event was staged in Armour Park just north of U.S. Cellular Field. More recently the event has been held at Progressive Baptist Church.
